Finally I’ve made it to the Top 10 Fantasy Football Quarterback for the 2008 season. This is the best part of the season for me. I get to sit down at the computer, break down numbers, review rosters, and than project how each player will perform this upcoming season. From the first article I wrote, QB Rankings 21-30, till the last projection is written down, I will have seen 250+ hours of film from last season, and projected Fantasy numbers for over 270 players. To be honest, this is the best part of the season for me.

Lets first recap quarterbacks 11-30:

11) Phillip Rivers : 3515 YDS – 24 TD’s – 9 INT
12) Jay Cutler : 3532 YDS – 25 TD’s – 12 INT
13) Marc Bulger : 3569 YDS – 23 TD’s – 13 INT
14) Donovan McNabb : 2915 YDS – 19 TD’s – 9 INT – 2 RTD’s
15) Matt Schaub : 3432 YDS – 22 TD’s – 14 INT – 2 RTD’s
16) Vince Young : 3035 YDS – 19 TD’s – 15 INT – 5 RTD’s
17) Jake Delhomme : 3424 YDS – 25 TD’s – 16 INT
18) Aaron Rogers : 3390 YDS – 21 TD’s – 16 INT
19) Jon Kitna : 3316 YDS – 20 TD’s – 15 INT
20) Jason Campbell : 3052 YDS – 17 TD’s – 13 INT
21) Matt Leinart : 3122 YDS – 23 TD's – 16 INT
22) Alex Smith : 3079 YDS – 22 TD's – 12 INT
23) Tarvaris Jackson : 3079 YDS – 19 TD's – 15 INT – 6 RTD's
24) JaMarcus Russell : 3065 YDS – 18 TD's – 17 INT
25) Jeff Garcia : 2803 YDS – 16 TD's – 8 INT
26) Trent Edwards : 2990YDS – 17 TD's – 17 INT
27) Kellen Clemens : 2578 YDS – 19 TD's – 15 INT
28) Rex Grossman : 2312 YDS – 15 TD's – 17 INT
29) Brodie Croyle : 1679 YDS – 14 TD's – 15 INT
30) Kurt Warner : 1155 YDS – 8 TD's – 4 INT

10) Eli Manning – New York Giants: Coming off his Super Bowl win, Eli Manning is primed for another big season. Since coming into the NFL, Manning has thrown at least 23 touchdowns in each season. Over his last three seasons Manning has thrown 71 touchdowns, ranking him fifth over that period of time. His receivers, if they all decide to show up, are one of the best in the NFC. The downside to owning Manning is his interceptions and at times erratic performances. Over his last three seasons he’s thrown 55 INT’s, second amongst all quarterbacks. Manning is a decent choice as your number one quarterback. I would make sure that my number two quarterback was more accurate and less likely to throw the INT. My Projection : 3451 YDS – 24 TD’s – 16 INT

9) David Garrard – Jacksonville Jaguars : Probably the biggest surprised yet in my rankings. Garrard has the formula for not losing games for you : high td rate + low INT totals = great quarterback numbers. Will Garrard be the next Peyton Manning, no. What Garrard will give you though is a high completion rate, 20+ touchdowns, and 10 or less INT’s. I love the potential of Garrard, and to me will be one of the biggest surprises at the position. My Projection : 3354 YDS – 23 TD’s – 10 INT

8) Matt Hasselback – Seattle Seahawks : In 2007 Matt Hasselback reached career highs in completions, attempts, yards, and TDs. This season could be better. Why? Well, with Shawn Alexander out of the pitcher, I don’t see a very reliable running game. I see a similar game plan to the Giants, using the passing game to setup the run. With Deion Branch and Nate Burleson, two wide receivers I fell underperformed last year, set to have big years, Hasselback could be on the verge of a 4000+ yd season. My Projections : 3425 YDS – 24 TD’s – 15 INT

7) Derek Anderson – Cleveland Browns : Derek Anderson was the darling of the 2007 season. After tearing up the Baltimore Defense in his first start, (I remember that like it was yesterday because I started the Baltimore Defense thinking I would rack up points, when in fact, they cost me my weekly matchup), Anderson never looked back. Anderson has great options in Braylon Edwards and the “Sarge” Kellen Winslow, and although many “Experts” think he’ll be bust, the Browns have put him in a position to succeed with the weapons around him. My Projection : 3645 TDS – 36 TD’s – 16 INT

6) Carson Palmer – Cincinnati Bengals : I really don’t know what to do or think about Palmer right now. To me he could fit in anywhere on this ranking list from the third best quarterback all the way to the 12th. Palmer to me is the great unknown. With “Ocho Cinco” getting ankle surgery, there is talks that he’ll be ready for training camp, Palmer will have to rely on T.J. Houshmandzadeh who’ll see plenty of double teams this year. To me, Palmers’ numbers may be good at the end of the season, but there are too many question marks about this team. Palmer is a guy, who even in my Top 10, I’d look to avoid in the early season. My Projection : 3697 YDS – 25 TD’s – 19 INT

5) Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers : “Big Ben” over his last four seasons in the NFL, has seen his Fantasy Quarterback ranking go from Top 20 status down to the Top 5. If history can repeat itself, Roethlisberger should enjoy another great season. This offseason the Steelers added two new offensive weapons in Rashard Mendenhall and Limas Sweed to along with Roethlisberger’s go to wide receiver Santonio Holmes and the ever dependable Hines Ward making this offense one of the best in the NFL. Roethlisberger has a chance to throw for 30+ touchdowns this year, and should increase his yards of 3154 from a year ago. My Projection : 3512 YDS – 25 TD’s – 15 INT

4) Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints : The best move for Drew Brees was getting out of San Diego. Over his last two seasons in New Orleans, Brees has gone over 4400 yards passing, and last season reached career highs in completions, yards, and touchdowns. The offensive numbers have been great, but he is extremely durable as well which should put Fantasy Owners minds at ease. Let’s not forget the weapons Brees has as well. With Reggie Bush catching the ball out of the backfield, and Marques Colston dashing the down the side line, Brees has the weapons to once again top 4000 yds this season. My Projection : 4053 YDS – 26 TD’s – 17 INT

3) Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys : Simple the best quarterback in the NFC. This “kid” has only played in 27 games, and already has thrown 55 touchdowns, and appeared in two Pro-Bowls. The thing that concerns me is the second option at the wide receiver position with concerns over Terry Glenn’s leg, and whether or not the offensive-line can hold up and keep Romo off his back. Other than that, Romo is headed to a Top 5 ranking once again this season. Lets all hope that the Jessica Simpson stuff quietly goes away, and that she and her dad will not be a distraction this season. My Projection : 4062 YDS – 29 TD’s – 20 INT

2) Peyton Manning – Indianapolis Colts : Consistently one of the best quarterbacks year in and year out, Manning has topped 4,000 yards eight out of his last nine years. The other great thing about Manning, is that you can plop him into your lineup and only have to worry about the quarterback position once the rest of the season, his bye-week. The only cause for concern this season with Manning is whether or not Marvin Harrison will be ready to go. If he’s not, second year wide receiver Anthony Gonzales will have to step up to the plate. We all know what we’re going to get with Manning, so there is no reason to worry when taking Manning at quarterback to lead your team. My Projection : 4125 YDS – 32 TD’s – 15 INT

1) Tom Brady – New England Patriots : Do I really need to explain why here? Tom Brady is hands down the best quarterback in the game. The quality I love the most about Brady is that he never keys on just one receiver. He likes the spread the ball and get it out of his hands as quickly as possible. This year might be different and I don’t expect the gaudy numbers from a year ago. I think defenses will scheme a little differently this year then they did last year, and use the Giants game plan from the Super Bowl. Lets face facts though, Brady, no matter what situation, has a quick release, has one of the best arms in the game, and will find a way to win. Brady will get your team touchdowns, just don’t expect the those touchdowns numbers to be as high as they were a year ago. My Projection : 4156 YDS – 35 TD’s – 14 INT

There you have it, the Top 30 Quarterbacks for the 2008 season.

Note : These rankings are subject to change, and I will keep an updated list.
