And there's another reason the Tigers are struggling -- a huge reason.

You know about the pitching staff's bloated 5.09 ERA. You know about the inconsistency of the offense, a star-studded lineup that's already been shut out five times.

But at the core of their inconsistency is the statistical reality that the Tigers, so far, are a ridiculously bad-hitting team with runners in scoring position.
