He suffered a minimally displaced fracture of his left 4^th metacarpal Wednesday night vs. ATL and will be placed on the DL.

David Ortiz, DH BOS

Placed on the DL Monday with a torn tendon sheath in his left wrist. They plan to immobilize his wrist for 4 weeks in attempts to have it heal without surgery. He is out indefinitely.

Fantasy Impact: His fantasy value is now minimal for the rest of the season. These things take 6 months to feel good again. There is only a minimal chance this will heal on it's own. I am putting my money on season ending surgery. Drop him now and save the roster spot. Also, some less informed owner will pick him up and waste a precious roster spot as this surgical drama plays out over the next 8 to 12 weeks.

He returned to the bullpen Friday vs. TEX after being on the DL since April 15^th with a strained right triceps. He was appointed the closer by manager Eric Wedge.

He has been on the DL with a right quad injury and is scheduled, baring any setbacks, to return Tuesday vs. the Orioles.

My mother and the mother of my children. Have both never been placed on the DL or for that matter, have missed a day in 39 and 12 years respectively. Take that Cal Ripken.

They are projecting him to return next TH after further rehab at the teams training facility in Florida. He has been on the DL since April 20^th with a sprained left ankle.
