Up Ticks:

Hideki Matsui, OF NYY:

He returned to the Yankee lineup as a DH August 19th after a 7 week absence due to knee issues.

Fantasy Impact: His timing has been off due to the layoff; however he has hit with some power since his return. He has also not missed a day since his return, playing in the Yankee’s last 6. If you need to roll the dice, he has good upside to not come up “snake eyes”.

Adam Wainwright, SP STL:

He returned to start last Friday night vs. ATL after being out since early June with a ruptured tendon in his right middle finger. He pitched well, going 6 innings yielding 1 ER and striking out 4.

Fantasy Impact: He looked fine Friday night. Activate him and ride him to a championship.

Down Ticks:

Johnny Cueto, SP CIN

He left yesterdays game after 3 innings with soreness in his triceps. He will be examined today in Cincinnati.

Fantasy Impact: He is at the point in his season where he has almost doubled his previous high of innings pitched; it’s no surprise he has a sore elbow. Since Cincinnati is playing for nothing, do not be surprised if they shut him down for the rest of the season as a precautionary measure.

Josh Beckett, SP BOS

He is skipping his start on Tuesday vs. NYY due to numbness and tingling in his pitching hand. He is scheduled to make his next start on Friday of fantasy week 22.

Fantasy Impact: Numbness and tingling is a nerve issue. Nerve issues are very unpredictable. Holding him out vs. the Yankees is a big red flag to me. If I owned him, I would bench him this week as he may not even end up pitching in fantasy week 22 as the recovery is slower than expected.

J.D. Drew, OF BOS

He missed his 6th consecutive game on Sunday with a reported herniated disk in his low back.

Fantasy Impact: Fantasy Rule # 12: Do not have players with herniated disks in you active fantasy lineup. Light upside and a tremendous downside.
