Excellent podcast today reminding the peanut gallery that this is an NL only auction format!

For those, like myself, who are used to mixed league snake drafts, then of course the roster makeup isn't eye-popping but the talent pool in an NL-only draft isn't as deep as in mixed formats.

Your worst category is saves, but that is probably the EASISEST category one can recover from - with a waiver wire pickup here, and a trade there, a team owner can climb back into that category.

I love the Holliday pick, I love the Milledge pick, Maine looks poised to make people forget that Pedro Martinez was supposed to be the Mets other big gun, Zimmerman looks recovered from wrist injury.

I hope you guys give us periodic updates on your team; I'd like to see how you do !

Instead of Laroche, I would have taken Feliz at 12, Reynolds at 8 or Cantu at 6. Maybe even Jacobs at 17. That would have save some $$ for pitching.

Funny thing happened on the way to my analysis: Looking at your team only, I saw several weak spots. But looking at your team in comparison to the others, you definitely have a great chance to win it. While you do have several non-producers (Guzman, Ausmus, Gwynn (after the first 25 games), Bergman, Backe, Davis), your overall balance is good, your outfield is the best of all, and if Loney, Weeks and Zimmerman have solid years, you should win at least 10 points in all offensive categories.

You can forget saves, but you could be okay in the other four pitching categories.

Best Catching: LOMBARDO (SNYDER MCCANN)
Best 1/3: SCHWARTZ: (HOWARD BRAUN JACOBS)
Best 2/S: KRETZER: (TULOWITZKI TEJADA IGUCHI)
Best Outfield: MELCO (HOLLIDAY HALL VICTORINO MILLEDGE)
Best SP: TIE LEBOWITZ SANTANA/WEBB MELCO: MAINE/PENNY/PEREZ

Well I think the team looks great! It is easy to criticize when you are not in an NL league with 13 teams. I know you will be competitive. Good Luck!

Lenny & Paul,

It was a blast to compete against you both and the rest of the participants at this year's NL Toutwars. I haven't analyzed all the teams, but I looked at yours, and naturally, my own. Your nine core players on offense are exceptionally good and offer a nice balance of power, speed and average. Spilbourgs is an above average part timer, but your team is hampered by little production from the catchers' slots and two mediocre fill in players. That will hurt you in the counting cats. Netting it out, I see your team as being a bit above average on offense, perhaps a bit better. You definitely need to work the waiver wire to add more ABs to it. I would describe your pitching as a mixed bag too. You outbid me for Maine whom I think is going to really blossom this year. I had him valued at $18, the last bid I made against you. I'm a bit less sanguine regarding Ollie and Penny. Both are obviously talented, but they can be maddeningly inconsistent. As a Mets' fan, I think and...

I play NL leagues pretty much only. However those leagues are usually 10 teams and not 13. With that being said your team is a very good team.

The problem I have is I know how much Paul likes Shane Victorino and how much Lenny likes Lasting Milledge. To this point in their careers they have been nothing more than average at best and you guys bid on them like they are proven stars. I really think you overpaid by a lot for these two guys. I saw the same thing in the beat the experts draft as I laughed as a $3 player was going for $16.00 and a $13 player was going for $18 because all the participents knew how much you guys liked them and jumped on the band wagon.

There are just too many players out there to get a good deal on in my opinion to ever overpay more than a buck or two for any player that I really want.

To prove my point I paid $45 in the beat the experts draft for Byrnes and Soriano who last year together combined for 54HR and 69SB. At best your two guys...

All drafts are different When startplayers go for 3 -5 less than value and closers 3/5 $less than value the draft goes under value and $tickle down to mid level players Thats why we got Hiliday at 38 instead of Francour Look at the values of lesser players They all went over value and thats wht happens when bigger players go for less We didnt order Milledge at the price WE BID ON HIM and the biiding was by teams with extra $
