2008 Fantasy Football Quarterback Tier Listing

TIER ONE : Tom Brady, Peyton Manning

Both of these QB's have a chance at going in the first round. Would I recommend that? NO!!! These QB's though are hands down the best at their positions. With 35+ TD potential from each, they will be the first two QB's off the board.

TIER TWO : Tony Romo, Drew Brees, Ben Roethlisberger

Not that much of drop-off between tier one and two. The difference is in the the number of INT's. These three QB's will start to come off the board at the end of round two and beginning of round three. Brees' offense is probably better suited for teams that don't get one of the top ten RB's only because he throws for more yards than Romo or “Big Ben”.

TIER THREE : Carson Palmer, Derek Anderson

These two probably will have “BUST” written all over them on many sites. Although I believe Palmer could be a BUST if Chad Johnson continues his games, but Palmer is a gamer and will go somewhere between the third and fifth round. Derek Anderson to me has to many weapons and should do as well if not better than a year ago.

TIER FOUR : Matt Hasselback, David Garrard, Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers

The more I look at this list the more I love Phillip Rivers. I would take a look at his weapons, which to me he has more than the other QB's in tier four. Eli Manning to me could be a “BUST”. Garrad is the “Sleeper” and Hasselback is your consistent QB. Never the less, the QB's should be coming off the board between the fourth and sixth round.

TIER FIVE : Jay Cutler, Marc Bulger, Donovan McNabb

This group is by far the toughest to judge. Marc Bulger to me is a great SLEEPER pick, and D. McNabb has a chance to be in the Top 15. Cutler has the most question marks because of wide receiver Brando Marshall. As of June 28th though Marshall has been cleared to play. Cutler, like D. McNabb could be a great QB pick in the middle rounds.

TIER SIX : Matt Schaub, Vince Young, Jake Delhomme, Aaron Rodgers

Matt Schaub, after being acquired by the Houston Texans, did everything expected of him. A great relationship with WR Andre Johnson means another successful season for him. VY is still a project and the Tennessee Titans will try to put him more into the the shot gun and move him around. Delhomme and Rodger are two big question marks. Delhomme coming off Tommy John surgery and Rodger now at the helm for the Packers, many wonder what these two can really provide to their Fantasy Teams. Target these guys between the seventh and tenth rounds.

TIER SEVEN : Jon Kitna, Jason Campbell, Matt Leinart, Alex Smith, Tarvaris Jackson, Jamarcus Russell, Jeff Garcia, Trent Edwards

Really the best of the rest starting QB's left. Once you get past this bunch your at the bottom of the barrel of QB's. The one QB I see as a SLEEPER is Tarvaris Jackson. Many aren't giving him a chance, but me, I saw somethings that could make a Top 20 QB by season end. The others are crap shoots. Alex Smith may surprise, but, no way do you take him before the tenth round.

TIER EIGHT : Kellen Clemens, Rex Grossman, Brodie Croyle

If you get stuck with one of these QB's, kiss your season good-bye. These guys will be owned but really hold no fantasy value.

TIER NINE : Kurt Warner, Kyle Boller, Josh McCown, John Beck, Chris Redman, Damon Huard, Sage Rosenfels, Matt Ryan, Chad Pennington, Shaun Hill

The backup list is deep. You can use Warner to handcuff Leinart, the same can be said for Hill, Rosnefels, and what could be a great SLEEPER in Matt Ryan. Other than that, many of these QB's won't be drafted.

Great list! We're big believers in a tiered point-of-view for fantasy football player rankings. It makes draft day a bit less stressful when you can think in terms of getting "one of these 3 or 4 guys" next round rather than focusing on one guy and having get drafted ahead of you.
That being said, don't let your #1 QB get any lower than tier 6 from this list there are simply way too many question marks in tiers 7 and lower.
