Playing Rotisserie Baseball in the early 80' was really getting into a hobby on the Ground Floor. Before the Internet was mainstream, Irwin Zwilling and I would often go to Manhattan to buy three day old, out of town newspapers. Obviously, Rotisserie Baseball information before the Internet was hard to come by.
In 1993 Irwin and I decided to take the hobby to a higher level by producing and broadcasting the first Rotisserie Sports Radio Show on WGBB 1240 am NY. We covered Baseball, Football, Basketball and Hockey, Rotisserie Style for the first time ever! Taking the hobby to Level one was truly a "labor of love". We had a vision but never expected the ride.
In 1996 Major League Baseball became aware of our work and dedication to what had then become Fantasy Baseball. Without ANY previous work in front of a camera, MLB offered us a Fantasy Baseball segment on TV's Pennant Chase with Fran Healey and This Week In Baseball with Ozzie Smith. The hobby was blasting off.
Finally, in 1997, MLB invitied Irwin and myself to be guests at the ALL-STAR game in Cleveland . At the Fan Fest, thousands turned out for our seminar on Fantasy Baseball. It was at this point that MLB had officially endorsed Fantasy Baseball as a legitimate and respected hobby.
Along with Zwill, I co-hosted the first two years of Fantasy 411 on MLB's first website, MLB .com. Along the way we managed to win two LABR titles as well as a TOUT WARS championship. We both were inducted in the MLB Radio Hall of Fame for the work we did for MLB on Fantasy Baseball.
