Wives,Girlfriends,Mothers,Parents or Players who need to Apoligize ASK LISA: Dear Lisa, I hope you can help me. I am frantically searching for an anniversary gift/Valentine's Day gift for my wife Jane. Any suggestions? We are both around 40. Perhaps the question would be...what would you like if it was you? Thanks so much and thanks for helping your husband help all of us! Robert Long Island City, NY
Hi Robert,
Oh, the dreaded Anniversary/Valentine's gift. Most men hate it. Gift giving is hard for most guys for their wife. I know Lenny feels the same way about it.
I don't know what your budget is, but you can go over the top or simple. The thing with most women is that we like to have a lot of thought in the gift. Most guys will do the usual go buy a nice piece of jewelry or a day at the spa thing, but a little more creativity will really knock her out.
Think real hard. Is there a place she has always talked about but never gone too? Is she a fan of some rock and roll band that is playing somewhere, even in another country? Perhaps get tickets and send her there? Is she a fan of a particular tv show? Can you arrange to visit the set?
Is she a fan of art? Why not surprise her with a surprise weekend with a museum visit and a nice romantic dinner? Or tickets to a show, the opera, etc. You get the idea.
Try asking some of her closest friends that know her. Lenny is usually amazed that my best friend will know more about what I like than he does.
The thing is put a lot of thought into it. It could be as simple as buying a pair of boots or a purse that her friend knows she has been eyeing for a while but never told you about.
That will do it for you.
Good luck. And let me know how it goes.
