Up Ticks:
Wells, Vernon OF TOR
He was activated off the 15-day DL on Sunday after missing 26 games due to a strained left hamstring.
Fantasy Impact: Activate him for fantasy week 20; other than rust, he should be fine.
Longoria, Evan 3B TB
He missed last weekend’s series vs. SEA after being hit by a pitch Thursday night; injuring his right wrist.
Fantasy Impact: Longoria said he expects to be back Tuesday vs. OAK. He has yet to disappoint, so keep him active for this upcoming week.
Down Ticks:
Lee, Carlos OF HOU
He was placed on the 15-day DL Saturday with a broken left pinkie; expected to miss 6-8 weeks.
Fantasy Impact: He will be done for the season.
Crawford, Carl OF TB
He was placed on the 15-day DL with a right hand injury. Crawford felt a “pop” which indicates a ligament injury.
Fantasy Impact: Ligament injuries in the wrist are usually bad, especially if your vocation is baseball. There is a very good possibility he will have significantly lower fantasy numbers for the rest of the year.
Braun, Ryan 3B/OF MIL
He is day to day with a back injury.
Fantasy Impact: Reserve him for week 20. He could not even swing a bat on Sunday which indicates he may be out for a good chunk of the week.
Guillen, Carlos SS/1B DET
He is day to day with lower back spasms.
Fantasy Impact: Much like Braun, he could easily miss some games this upcoming week. Safe play is to reserve him as well to minimize the downside. I do think he will have more AB’s than Braun this week but the downside is steep this time of year if he throws up a bagel. Back conditions are too unpredictable.
Wakefield, Tim SP BOS
He was placed on the 15-day DL with tightness in the right shoulder.
Fantasy Impact: He went through the same type of thing the end of last year. Reserve him for the next 2 weeks but do not release him, this looks like a short stint to rest him up for the stretch.
Hudson, Orlando 2B ARI
He was placed on the DL Sunday after undergoing surgery late Saturday night to repair a dislocated bone in his left wrist.
Fantasy Impact: He is out for the rest of the season. This has some potential to be career threatening since this is the second time on the same wrist for this issue.
