2nd Base Sleepers

A "sleeper' is defined as a player who will give substantially more production and worth than the price we pay to get him.

2nd Base Sleepers :

UPPER LEVEL

Robinson Cano..As good as he is..SB makes him elite..Girardi is more of a Running MGR than Torre. Cano has 1 SB so far this spring 15+ jumps him up in value

Howie Kendrick..A "stud" prospect buried in the 7 hole..Has 3 SB thus far 15 -20 SB 15 HR 310 + BA

Rickei Weeks..Enigma...Hit over 400 in college but a BA liability in Fantasy..BUT 20 + HR ..100+ runs and 30 ++ (possible 50) worth the BA hit get Matt Holiday with him!

MID LEVEL

Aaron Hill..MVP of futures game a few years ago..Is 08 his future? 20 HR?..possible BUT 0 Speed..Thank you JIM

Tad Iguchi..Forgotton man..10 + HR (even in Petco) 15 SB

Marcus Giles..great career numbers in Clolrado..Nix has the edge and Baker started strong, but WATCH GILES..IF he makes it a nice end gamer

Eugenio Velez..Was low level but he spring showing and SB numbers makes him a FACTOR

LOW LEVEL

Emilio Bonifacio..Playing 2nd base and OF this spring among the fastest in MLB. SB potential 20+

Alexi Casilla..25 + SB although he may start AAA to get fundemantals

Marcus Giles..great career numbers in Clolrado..Nix has the edge and Baker started strong, but WATCH GILES..IF he makes it a nice end gamer...DOWNGRADE

Aaron Hill should be in there somewhere. All he did last year was tie Roberto Alomar for most HRs by a Jay second baseman (17) and break Alomar's record for most doubles in a season (47) while hitting .291 for the 2nd year in a row. He's in his age 26 year.

He doesn't steal bases but that is more of a product of Blue Jay philosophy than any lack of speed from of Hill

Hill is going UNDRAFTED in many 5x5 snake drafts.
If the definition of a sleeper is a player who will give substantially more production and worth than the price we pay to get him then Hill may be the top sleeper at 2B

p.s. - He's hitting over .500 so far this spring

In regards to Weeks, you mentioned pairing him with Holiday for avg. Although Holiday is a tough target unless your in the right spot in the first round, if not I like the strategy you mentioned in one podcast in pairing Weeks/Kinsler with Kendrick at MI to balance off avg. I think this is a great stretagy if you can't get a really high avg guy in the first round.

You have to put Ty down as a FANTASTIC 2B sleeper. Not to many 2B are 3B eligible with the chance to hit 25+ hr's with 75+++ RBI's. If only they could get him to steal a bag.
